Jesse Medearis is the founder of Medearis Law Firm, PLLC and a Montana trial lawyer who represents injured individuals and families in personal injury and serious accident cases. Based in Gallatin County, Jesse serves clients in Bozeman, Belgrade, and communities across Montana.

Before moving to Gallatin County, Jesse grew up on a ranch near the small eastern Montana town of Ismay—also known as “Joe Montana.” That upbringing shaped the way Jesse approaches his work: show up prepared, tell the truth, work harder than the other side, and take care of people who rely on you.

After graduating from Baker High School, Jesse attended the University of Montana Western in Dillon, where he earned degrees in Business Administration and Global Politics. During college, Jesse spent time on the basketball team but quickly discovered where he felt most at home: in the rodeo arena. Jesse finished out his college career on the rodeo team, ultimately winning the Big Sky Region and qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Before law school, Jesse worked in the oilfield industry in eastern Montana and western North Dakota, including roustabout, pipelining, and environmental work. Those jobs gave Jesse first-hand experience with physically demanding work, jobsite safety concerns, and the real-world consequences that follow a serious injury.

In 2018, Jesse earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Montana School of Law. While in law school, he served as an editor of the Montana Law Review, interned for the United States Attorney’s Office, and clerked for an insurance defense law firm. That early defense-side experience became a major advantage: Jesse learned how insurance companies evaluate claims, how cases are valued behind the scenes, and what strategies are often used to deny, delay, and minimize injury cases.

Since becoming a lawyer, Jesse has represented individuals and businesses in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, construction disputes, business litigation, and insurance lawsuits. He has taken cases to verdict and is known for building detailed, evidence-driven cases that demand accountability.

Prior to founding Medearis Law Firm, Jesse practiced civil litigation with Heenan & Cook, where he handled a wide range of complex matters including personal injury, insurance disputes, and high-stakes civil litigation.

At Medearis Law Firm, Jesse’s guiding principle is simple: the client comes first. Jesse believes the best result isn’t just a settlement number—it’s helping clients put their lives back together and move forward with confidence. He works directly with clients, helps coordinate the legal and recovery process, and fights for maximum compensation when the other side refuses to take responsibility.

Outside of work, Jesse spends his time in the rodeo arena during the summer, skiing in the winter, and traveling Montana and the surrounding states with his wife, Kessly, their daughters, Langston and Maisy, and their four horses. In the fall, he’s also a proud Montana State Bobcats fan and loves Saturdays at Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman.

Why I Started Medearis Law Firm

I started Medearis Law Firm because I wanted to build the kind of practice I would want my own family to have if they were injured. Too often, people hire a lawyer expecting personal attention—only to find out their case gets passed around, they can’t reach the attorney, and they feel like a number instead of a person.

I believe injury cases should be handled differently. When someone is hurt, they don’t just need legal help—they need a steady hand to guide them through medical treatment, insurance pressure, lost income, and uncertainty about the future. My goal isn’t simply to pursue a settlement; it’s to help clients truly recover and move forward. At the end of the day, I’d rather have a client fully healed and back to living their life than chase a headline number that doesn’t actually fix the problem.

Medearis Law Firm was built to give clients direct access to their lawyer, real preparation for trial when necessary, and representation based on hard work, honesty, and results.
